Join us for the next chapter meeting of NABJ-LA on Saturday, November 19 with internationally known public health leader Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith. Please note: Our Nov. meeting will resume at our usual location at the SAG-AFTRA building (5757 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036).
Dr. Prothrow-Stith is currently is the dean and professor of medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU). Prior to joining CDU, she was a consultant for top-tier healthcare, life sciences, academic and not-for-profit institutions on leadership and executive talent as principal of Spencer Stuart. She landed $14 million in grant funding for public health programs as Harvard University’s associate dean for diversity where she established the Division of Public Health Practice. She also served as the Henry Pickering Walcott Professor of Public Health Practice.
Dr. Prothrow-Stith’s distinguished awards include 10 honorary doctorates, a presidential appointment to the National Commission on Crime Control and Prevention and the 1993 World Health Day Award.
In 2003, she was inducted into the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Science, one of the highest honors in academic medicine.
She is a graduate of Spelman College and Harvard Medical School.
