The Los Angeles chapter of the National Assn. of Black Journalists gathered Nov. 5 to honor one of its very own, veteran broadcast journalist Beverly White. The event, held at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses House and co-sponsored by U.S. Bank and SAG-AFTRA, was attended by nearly 100 friends, family and colleagues to celebrate White’s 25th anniversary at NBC4.
NABJ-LA Board Member and former chapter president Lois Pitter-Bruce served as mistress of ceremonies after the group was welcomed into the Tournament House by Gerald Freeny, the organization’s executive vice president. A number of commendations were then presented to White by California State Assemblymen Anthony Portantino and Chris Holden, President of the Los Angeles City Council Herb Wesson and Mark Ridley-Thomas of the County Board of Supervisors. Certificates were also sent on behalf of U.S Representative Maxine Waters and Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey.
